One of my favorite ways to give my body a natural boost is with fire cider—a traditional herbal tonic that’s packed with immune-enhancing, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant-rich ingredients. Fire cider is a spicy, tangy, and powerful remedy, perfect for keeping your immune system strong.

Why Organic Ingredients Matter

When making fire cider (or any herbal remedy), it's important to use the highest-quality ingredients. Ideally, all ingredients should be organic to ensure you're not introducing any harmful chemicals into your body. If you can’t find organic versions, it's best to omit the ingredient to maintain the purity of the recipe.

Fire Cider Recipe: A Potent Immune-Boosting Tonic

Here’s my go-to fire cider recipe. It’s simple to make and uses ingredients you likely already have on hand.

Ingredients

  • ¼ cup dried elderberries
  • 1-2 inches of fresh organic turmeric, thinly sliced
  • 1-2 inches of fresh organic ginger, thinly sliced
  • 1 small organic onion, thinly sliced
  • 2-3 cloves of fresh organic garlic, thinly sliced
  • Peel from 1 organic lemon
  • 1 organic lemon slice
  • 2 organic grapefruit slices
  • 1 sprig of fresh organic rosemary
  • Organic raw apple cider vinegar (enough to fill your jar)

Directions

Step 1

Place all the ingredients into a clean, quart-sized glass jar.

Step 2

Fill the jar with organic raw apple cider vinegar, making sure all ingredients are fully submerged.

Step 3

Cap the jar tightly, using a piece of parchment paper between the jar and the lid to prevent rust. Store it in a cool, dark place for 2-4 weeks, shaking it daily.

Step 4

After the maceration period, strain the mixture and transfer the liquid into a clean jar.

Step 5

Store your fire cider in the fridge, and take a tablespoon daily to support your immune health!

Step 6

This recipe is incredibly versatile—you can also mix a tablespoon into salad dressings or teas to enjoy its health benefits in different ways.
