As a pregnant clinical herbalist, I make sure to optimize my sleep naturally. And, let’s be honest...sleep during pregnancy can be rough. Between the midnight bathroom runs, restless legs, vivid dreams (about giving birth on a plane? just me?), and a growing bump, quality sleep can feel like a distant memory.
As a mama-to-be myself, I was on the hunt for something natural, pregnancy-safe, and genuinely relaxing to sip on at bedtime. After plenty of reading and experimenting, I came up with a calming little concoction that’s now part of my nightly wind-down ritual: the Pregnancy Sleepy Time Mocktail, featuring tart cherry juice and glycine.
And let me tell you...this combo is magic. ✨
This isn’t your average sleepy drink. It’s made with just a few simple ingredients that pack a gentle, research-backed punch:
Tart cherries (especially Montmorency cherries) are a natural source of melatonin, the hormone that helps regulate your sleep-wake cycle. Several small studies have found that tart cherry juice may improve sleep quality and duration, even in people with insomnia.
