Welcome to Peace Love Hormones, AKA The Modern Woman's Apothecary!
Headaches are one of the most common ailments of humankind, and in the U.S. alone, over half a billion dollars is spent each year on medications that only mask the symptoms rather than address the root cause. From a holistic perspective, headaches typically fall into three main categories: vascular, tension, or mixed-type (a combination of the two). Tension headaches are commonly triggered by stress, dehydration, low blood sugar, excessive salt, or even mental strain.
Rather than reaching for quick-fix medication, herbal medicine offers a gentle yet powerful solution. This herbal headache relief tea works to restore balance from within, supporting both vascular and tension-type headaches. When crafted with alkalizing, circulatory-supportive herbs, this blend can bring relief in as little as 15–60 minutes. And if you prefer, it can also be prepared as a tincture for on-the-go use. (Note: this version is not pregnancy-safe, but I’ve linked a pregnancy-safe herbal headache blend below.) If you don't feel relief after one cup of tea, you can enjoy 3-4 cups daily.
Soothe: Designed to regulate hormones, support cycle regularity, and prevent PMS symptoms.
Crampy: If you need immediate relief from menstrual cramps, this tincture works quickly to ease discomfort.
Bitters: improves digestion and support nutrient absorption, and overall gut health.
Sleepy: promotes restful sleep and supports nervous system health.
2 parts lemon balm
1 part feverfew
1 part chamomile
1/2 part lavender
1/4 part ceylon cinnamon chips
Combine all herbs in a bowl. Transfer to a mason jar for storage.
Measure your herbs: Use about 1-2 tablespoon of your loose dried herbal blend per 1 cup of water.
Boil your water: Bring fresh, filtered water to a boil.
Steep: Pour the hot water over your herbs, cover, and let steep for 15–20 minutes to extract the full medicinal benefits.
Strain and enjoy: Strain out the herbs and sip slowly while warm.
(Optional) For stronger relief, you can make a larger batch to store in the fridge for up to 24 hours.
Usage: Take 1–2 dropperfuls (about 30–60 drops) in water or tea at the first sign of a headache.
* Making tinctures is doable, but difficult. This is why I recommend buying from a trusted herbal medicine brand, like us, where the formulas are made in a laboratory with all the necessary ingredients, all of which are from the purest of origins.
